Fertility specialist consultation
The aim of a fertility consultation is to identify the potential causes of infertility with the support of a medical specialist and to provide personalized guidance on the path toward parenthood.
The consultation begins with a thorough and multi-faceted discussion. During the first visit, the fertility specialist takes a detailed medical history, including the patient’s general health, menstrual cycle regularity and length, any pain or irregularities, past gynecological or other medical conditions, and the duration and frequency of attempts to conceive.
Previous test results and medical records (such as hormone panels, ultrasound images, or prior treatments) are also reviewed. The doctor may perform a physical gynecological examination and transvaginal ultrasound to assess the condition of the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes, and to rule out abnormalities such as cysts, fibroids, or endometriosis.
Based on the findings, additional laboratory tests may be recommended, including hormone assessments (e.g., FSH, LH, AMH, prolactin, TSH), and screenings for infections or insulin resistance. As fertility evaluation always involves both partners, a semen analysis (spermiogram) and an andrology consultation for the male partner may also be advised.
The goal of the consultation is to provide a clear understanding of the underlying causes and the options moving forward — whether that involves further diagnostics, lifestyle changes, medical treatment, or referral to a fertility clinic. The consultation takes place in a supportive, empathetic, and fully confidential environment.
