Liquid-Based Cytology (LBC)

Liquid-Based Cytology (LBC)

Gynecological screening includes a cervical cancer test (LBC), vaginal discharge analysis, colposcopy, and a 2D transvaginal ultrasound. LBC is a modern method that provides more accurate results than traditional Pap smears and allows for HPV testing. The vaginal discharge test detects infections like bacterial vaginosis or yeast. Colposcopy uses a magnifying device to examine the cervix and identify any abnormal tissue. 2D transvaginal ultrasound offers a detailed view of the uterus, ovaries, and pelvic area. The entire screening is typically painless and helps detect diseases or abnormalities early, supporting long-term reproductive health.

A gynecological screening is a comprehensive examination aimed at early detection of infections, precancerous changes, and other abnormalities in the female reproductive organs. It usually includes the following components:

Liquid-Based Cytology (LBC)

A modern cervical cancer screening method where a sample of cells from the cervix is placed into a liquid medium. This produces a cleaner, more accurate result than traditional smears, and HPV testing can also be done from the same sample.

Vaginal Discharge Test

A sample of vaginal discharge is examined microscopically or cultured to identify infections such as bacterial vaginosis, yeast (Candida), or parasites (e.g., Trichomonas).

Colposcopy

The cervix and vaginal walls are examined under magnification using a colposcope. This allows the doctor to detect abnormal tissue or inflammation. A biopsy may be taken if suspicious areas are found.

2D Transvaginal Ultrasound

An ultrasound probe is gently inserted into the vagina to produce detailed images of the uterus, ovaries, and pelvis. It helps detect fibroids, cysts, polyps, and other abnormalities.

This combined screening is usually painless, quick, and plays a vital role in maintaining women’s reproductive health.
