- The decision to become a doctor came from my childhood, as my aunt set an excellent example for me, working as a head physician in the hospital in Komárom. I think this played a big role in my career choice. I graduated from Semmelweis University in 2009. Around my fourth year I decided to go into surgery, and orthopaedics and traumatology appealed to me. I was very impressed by my traumatology supervisor, among others, with whom I still have a very good relationship," says Dr. Csaba Ráskai, who worked at Semmelweis University as a central trainee for two years after graduation. He completed a six-month traineeship in specialist traumatology in his hometown of Győr and then moved back to Budapest. He also brought back experience from Ireland - "I have been working at the Heim Pál National Institute of Paediatrics since 2012. Between 2013 and 2014 there was a major break, as I moved to Ireland to gain experience, where I worked in a mixed department, dealing with both adult and paediatric orthopaedics. As well as having a great time, I gained a solid grounding and mastered English as a professional language. It was a rounded period and I was happy to come back home," says the specialist, who has been part of the TritonLife team since 2016. Hip and spine screening Our hospital is exclusively dedicated to paediatric orthopaedics, from newborns to 18 years of age, for any musculoskeletal complaint, pain or problem affecting bones, joints or muscles. - As well as treating specific complaints, I also carry out screening tests, including infant hip screening and adolescent spine screening. At TritonLife, I don't operate, but when it comes to surgery, knee surgery is one of my favorite areas, including sports medicine. At Heim Pál National Institute of Paediatrics we also deal with a large number of special cases. Professional credo - I consider it particularly important to examine the whole child in every case to get a coherent picture from an orthopaedic point of view. It is also important that I answer all questions from the parent thoroughly. If it's not an exact, scientific question, it's not always possible to take a professional, firm position, but it's important to give the subject time in such cases," he stresses. I am a member of the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society and regularly attend their courses and congresses. The society has a three-part curriculum, each of which is a two-day intensive course, adds Dr Csaba Ráskai, who completed the third part in 2019, earning the society's recognition. Family, music The specialist spends all his free time with his two-year-old daughter whenever he can. I also love playing guitar and used to play in bands, but since having a child, rock music has been replaced by lullabies.
