Dr. Szabolcs Herczegh
english-speaking doctor
Dr. Szabolcs Herczegh does not consider himself merely an obstetrician, but a professional who turns to his patients with the power of love, whom he believes in and whom he respects infinitely.
Dr. Herczegh Szabolcs, an obstetrician-gynecologist and endocrinologist, has always been driven by the desire to help, which is why she chose the medical profession 30 years ago. He does not consider himself merely an obstetrician, but a professional who turns to his patients with the power of love, whom he believes in and whom he respects infinitely.
He obtained his general medical degree in 1991, and, as he says, he was motivated by the desire to be able to help: I am happy if I can help my fellow human beings, and I have not changed anything in this over the past 30 years - says Dr. Herczegh Szabolcs.
In 1997, he completed his specialization at the Women's Clinic of Semmelweis University. I chose a beautiful field because of my respect for women. Of course, by then I had already found a job in the internal medicine department of the Honvéd Hospital, where I spent 2 years. I didn't find this area exciting enough, so I changed and ended up in the obstetrics department of the MÁV Hospital. Under the direction of Professor István Marton, this was a legendary period in the life of the department. He introduced the baby-friendly approach, the father-in-law birth, and the concept of rooming in, meaning that the mother should take care of the baby from the very beginning. Compared to the domestic approach at the time, this was a huge opening to the world, and I consider myself very lucky to have ended up here. I spent ten years here, and to this day the attitude I saw and experienced there defines my profession - the chief physician tells about his stations.
His professional dedication was accompanied by a great thirst for knowledge.
After the Szabolcs Street Medical Training School, the István Hospital and the Schöpf-Merei Hospital, I ended up at the TritonLife Róbert Private Hospital. In the meantime, as part of a professional study trip, I was able to visit the Arizona Madicopa Medical Center in the USA and the Sir Hurkisondas Royal Hospital in Bombay. I am very happy to be at the TritonLife Róbert Private Hospital, because I see that the development in the institution is unbroken. The current owners strive to develop the infrastructure, their goal is for the hospital to provide the best possible service to its patients. The approach implemented in the obstetrics department fully covers my ars poetics: natural childbirth is preferred, keeping in mind traditional obstetric values. Gentle birth and support for the woman in labor are also fundamental values for me. We only use a cesarean section when it is unavoidable - summarizes Dr. Szabolcs Herczegh.
It is also better for the mother and baby to experience the natural process of childbirth, because emotional and hormonal changes occur during childbirth that are important for both the mother and the baby - our doctor believes. Although the mother experiences a true miracle by giving birth to a small human being naturally, the fact is: there are pregnant mothers who, for psychological reasons, are very afraid of childbirth - which, let's admit, is extremely painful - and are unable to give birth to their child. It is not right if, despite entering the delivery room with enormous fear, the doctor forces a natural birth on her. In such cases, the cesarean section remains.
Obstetrics, gynecology, endocrinology
After completing her obstetrician-gynecologist examination, Dr. Szabolcs Herczegh also completed a specialist examination in endocrinology. All women are affected by hormonal function, and endocrinology deals with this area. I felt it was necessary to help women as an endocrinologist. Endocrinology can be approached from the perspective of internal medicine or obstetrics and gynecology. I have found that if the former is the case, the doctor deals with the patient's hormonal balance from the perspective of the disease. The obstetrician-gynecologist, on the other hand, approaches the problem from the perspective of the woman. I take a preventive approach and think ahead: she will definitely be planning a baby, so her body needs to be prepared for this - says Dr. Herczegh.
If the long-awaited baby does not arrive, we must first find the cause - the doctor believes. My mother was an excellent example for me with the way she kept the family together, but I also know that this places a huge burden on women. In the 21st century, every woman can realize herself according to her dreams, but this also carries the danger that more and more people are having their first child over the age of 35 due to their professional careers. Moreover, the media makes modern women believe that they can give birth at the age of 35-40, since they are healthy. However, this is not true for reproduction: hormonal changes begin in the ovaries at this time. In their case, the problem is not with childbirth, but with reproduction itself. The problems that arise are also multiplied due to environmental effects. Drinking water, food, and air contain chemicals that are intolerable to the body, which worsens the chances of fertility. But let's not only look at women, men's health is also negatively affected by the environment. 50 years ago, men's testosterone levels were much higher than today. This dramatic decrease is due, among other things, to female hormones, which enter men's bodies with drinking water, for example. While women face menopause, men face andropause, a decrease in testosterone levels. I usually encourage women and couples expecting a baby by saying that there is hope, don't give up.
The doctor must approach women with the power of love
- I believe this. I work through humanity and love, and I really believe in women. Recently, we had a 42-year-old mother who gave birth to her 11th child, and another managed to give birth to her first child at the age of 40 after her 10th IVF attempt.
In addition to family planning, obstetrics and outpatient care, Dr. Szabolcs Herczegh considers it important that the TritonLife Róbert Private Hospital also offers the possibility of treating and operating on more complex gynecological problems. All screening tests and necessary corrective gynecological surgeries are available here. In addition, laparoscopic surgical procedures, also known as keyhole surgery, are important - thanks to constant developments, they are performed at an exceptionally high standard, both in terms of endometriosis and myoma surgery - says our doctor.
