Dr. Valéria Jósa is the leading otolaryngologist at TritonLife Róbert Private Hospital. In addition to her pediatric and adult otolaryngology outpatient clinics — which she will be conducting at the TritonLife group’s Thököly út health center from May 2021 — she also conducts surgeries, and her medical work ranges from diagnosis to complete recovery.

For some reason, many people think that otolaryngology only deals with the tonsils and pharyngeal tonsils, but it is not. This is a much more complex field. It ranges from small auditory ossicle operations, through operations performed with a microscope, to large head and neck surgeries, where you really need to know the human body, the finest, smallest details – he explains the details of his work.

She has been preparing for a medical career since childhood, and completed her studies at the medical faculty of Semmelweis University. During her residency training, she worked on a scholarship in Berlin, Graz and America. In Graz, I studied for 4 months with Professor Stammberger, who is world-renowned in the field of nasal endoscopic surgeries. While in America I was able to develop myself in a direct medical environment with a renowned otolaryngologist, in Berlin I was able to get to know the conservative hierarchical system of the medical community. When I graduated, I said no to the offered research opportunity in Germany out of dedication, because I was already very eager to be among patients, to finally do something. Choosing the more rugged path, I started practicing here. An integral part of my foreign experiences is that years later I passed the European ENT examination in Vienna, in English – says Dr. Jósa.

Her experiences in Western Europe and overseas were also decisive in the field of patient communication: I experienced that they try to explain everything to patients. They treat them as partners, they provide information about everything, their goal is for the patient to understand the disease and the chosen treatment. If they understand, they accept and follow the instructions more closely, they adhere to them, so healing is faster and more effective. The basis of the doctor-patient relationship is not only communication, but also mutual respect. For example, in America, it is natural that when a patient arrives, they shake hands with the doctor and introduce themselves to each other. I believe in the same partnership, and I enforce this every minute of my practice.

Her professional career is impressive. She worked at the Szabolcs Street Hospital, the oncology-profile ENT department of the Uzsoki Hospital, and the Kistarcsa Hospital, while also doing scientific research. She is a regular participant and speaker at the congresses of the Hungarian and German ENT and head and neck surgery societies. In addition to her ENT specialist examination, she also holds a specialist examination in allergology and clinical immunology. In addition, her work is closely linked to somnology, having assisted in numerous ENT surgical interventions on snoring patients.

She has extensive experience in treating both adults and children. Children love me for some reason, I can easily find common ground with them. When a child is sick or goes to the doctor, it causes anxiety. She thinks it will be unpleasant, but then the examination takes place with jokes and conversation, and she realizes that, oh my, there is nothing wrong with it. My children don't cry very much - says Dr. Valéria Jósa.

She speaks English, German, French and a little Greek, among other languages. She completed part of her studies in German and has a university-level English medical translation diploma.
