- Detailed medical history taking: reviewing previous illnesses, family history, and risk factors
- Discussion of previous medical reports, therapies, and current medications
- Physical examination: auscultation, palpation, pulse measurement, targeted examination of affected organs
- If necessary:
- Blood pressure measurement
- Blood sugar testing
- Performing an ECG - Ordering laboratory and imaging tests if needed (blood tests, abdominal ultrasound, chest X-ray)
- Initiating symptom-relieving treatment already during the first consultation
- Organizing additional specialist consultations if necessary
