Internists diagnose and treat disorders and malfunctions of the internal organs and organ systems, and help to prevent them. They coordinate specialties such as cardiology, nephrology, gastroenterology, angiology, endocrinology, diabetology, haematology and pulmonology. Both acute and chronic diseases are treated.
