Everyone wants a medical test to determine as soon and as clearly as possible whether or not the patient being tested is infected with a pathogen. Infection is a biological process with a time course; therefore, unfortunately, there is no test that can determine with 100% certainty at a given moment whether a patient is infected or not. In the early stages of an infection, a diagnostic test may be negative and may only show the presence of infection after a certain period of time - so in some cases it may be necessary to undergo repeated testing.
