Dr. Veronika Deák

endocrinology, diabetology, internal medicine

Internal medicine is a large, multidisciplinary field, which is most similar to the old classical medicine, when during the examination of the patient, we take into account the entire body, and we establish the diagnosis and treatment plan by summarizing many small pieces of information and the results of consultations. Among the additional fields based on internal medicine and emerging from it, everyone finds their own place, and endocrinology has become my favorite.

Full introduction

She received her medical degree from the Medical University of Pécs in 1996. Since 1998, she has been working at the Department of Internal Medicine of the Kaposi Mór Teaching Hospital, and since November 1, 2013, at the newly launched Department of Endocrinology-Metabolism.

She says about her professional career:

"Internal medicine is a large field that encompasses several areas. This is most similar to the old classical medicine, when during the examination of the patient, we take into account the whole organism, put together a lot of small information, and the results of consultations to establish the diagnosis and treatment plan. Among the additional fields that are based on internal medicine and have become independent from it, everyone finds their own place, and endocrinology became my favorite. So in 2005 I passed the internal medicine specialist examination and in 2008 I passed the endocrinology specialist examination.

Since diabetology, although an independent field in Hungary, is part of endocrinology, and we mostly treat diabetic patients within the framework of a department, I also obtained a diabetology license qualification in 2014.

Since 2017, I have been teaching endocrinology to medical students at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Pécs as part of the German-language education program exercises.

I am a member of the Hungarian Endocrinology and Metabolism Society and the Hungarian Diabetology Society. I have an advanced level of German and an intermediate level of English. I live in Kaposvár with my two children and husband. As a way of relaxing, I regularly exchange my doctor's coat for running shoes."
