How does it work?
1. The patient must not eat or drink for 6 hours before the procedure.
2. A local anesthetic is applied to the throat, and sedation is available if needed.
3. A thin, flexible camera (endoscope) is inserted through the mouth into the stomach.
4. The doctor examines the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum in real-time on a monitor.
5. The procedure takes only a few minutes, and tissue samples can be taken if necessary.
